How it works
From quote to handover.
Design and samples
We work through colour and pattern options with sample boards. You confirm the look before any work begins.
Base preparation
Sub-base is excavated and compacted. Falls are set and forms are placed before the pour.
Pour and colour
Concrete is placed with integral colour or oxide release agent applied to the surface. The colour is locked into the concrete, not painted on top.
Pattern application
Stencils or stamps are applied while the concrete is at the right plasticity. Timing is critical here. We monitor the set and work the pattern when conditions are right.
Seal and handover
A compatible sealer is applied to protect the colour and pattern. We check the result in natural light before we call it done.

- What is the difference between stencilled and stamped concrete?
- Stencilled concrete uses a paper or plastic stencil laid on the fresh slab. Colour or texture is applied through the stencil, then the stencil is lifted to reveal the pattern. Stamped concrete uses a rubber mat pressed into the fresh surface to imprint a texture, like cobblestone or slate. Both produce a decorative result. The right choice depends on the look you want and the application.
- Will the colour fade?
- Integral colours and oxide releases are UV-stable and don’t fade the way surface paints do. The sealer protects the surface and should be re-applied every 3 to 5 years on driveways and high-traffic areas, longer on lower-traffic patios. Nick will walk you through maintenance on handover.
- Can decorative concrete be used for driveways?
- Yes, and it is a popular choice. Stencilled or stamped concrete gives a driveway a considered look without the ongoing maintenance and weed growth of pavers.
- Do I have to choose the colour before you start?
- Yes, and we would not start without it. We bring sample boards to the quote visit so you can see the actual colours and patterns, not just photos. Changing colour mid-job is not possible.
